Just two years ago they were the NBA champions, the hottest team in the NBA. They had experience in the still monstrous Shaq and what seemed limitless potential in Dwayne Wade. Things were looking up and they seemed like they had the pieces to be a dominant team for years to come.
Now, looking back it is almost weird to think what happened. The extra pressure on Wade has not affected his game, but it seemed like it cursed him. Every time you turn around Wade is benched due to injury. That or he is trying to play hurt, which is painful to watch, seeing one of the most talented players in the NBA being limited by pain. The Heat have done nothing but struggle this year. The valuable pieces that Pat Riley went and got during the championship have either lost or simply have just gotten, well old.
I mean are you kidding me? Your starting lineup includes Ricky Davis and Chris Quinn. Jason Williams has lost a step, Alonzo Mourning's legs are starting to crumple beneath him, Udonis Haslem has stayed consistent during the year but he isn't putting up All-Star like numbers. Plus the Shawn Marion trade has yet to pay dividends. At 14-67 things can only be looking up, we hope!
