In the short term, the answer has been “yes,” obviously, but it's going to catch up with the Chiefs at some point. Teams already are crowding the line and keying on Jamaal Charles and the running game. Charles is averaging only 4.1 yards per carry, which is more than a full yard below his career average, and hasn't broken a run longer than Sunday's 24-yard fourth-quarter burst. Quarterback Alex Smith and the offense can soften teams up by going over the top a few times, but it hasn't happened yet. Bowe's 34-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown was the Chiefs' second-longest play from scrimmage this season.
