Michael Bennett Injury: Updates on Seahawks DL's Back After Scary Collision
Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was involved in a scary collision during his team’s Week 4 clash with the Houston Texans.
The five-year veteran out of Texas A&M collided with opposing quarterback Matt Schaub in the second quarter. His head "snapped back" awkwardly as he hit the turf and he remained down for a few minutes, as per USA Today's Jim Corbett.

Bennett was eventually carted off, according to ESPN’s John Clayton.

Bennett returned to Seattle with the team on Sunday, Sept. 29 and will play in Week 5.

NBC Sports' Curtis Crabtree passes along a statement from Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll discussing Michael Bennett's expected availability for Week 5 against the Colts:
“He went from where he was to he was feeling pretty good today,” Carroll said. “So we’re excited about that for him. He was really scared. They had him in all of the alerts and didn’t know what was going on. But, I just checked him before I came in, he’s going to go this week and we’ll see how much he can work with the thought that he can go this week.”

The Houston Chronicle's Staff, via The Associated Press, passed along a statement from Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll discussing Michael Bennett's injury:
“He’s got a strained muscle in his back that really grabbed him and really hurt him. They were just really concerned because it was close to his vertebrae,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “They weren’t sure what it was, so they took good care of him. But he’s OK.”

The 27-year-old’s father was in the stands and was spotted calling down to his son as he was removed from the field, as per NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora.

It was a scary scene, but Bennett did raise his head and has been moving his legs, according to Jerry Brewer of the Seattle Times.
