According to KWTX.com's Paul J. Gately, Dixon was released from custody shortly after the arrest after posting $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
UPDATE: Friday, Sept. 27
From ESPN's Jake Trotter:
Baylor issued this statement on Dixon: "We're aware of the situation and it will be handled internally, as is our practice."— Jake Trotter (@Jake_Trotter) September 27, 2013
The charges stem from an incident earlier this month on Sept. 16 when Dixon allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old man who he believed had broken into his home, according to the police warrant via Gately. The victim suffered injuries to his face but did not require hospitalization.
It's unknown whether Dixon will miss any time on the field moving forward. But if he is forced to sit out for any significant amount of time, No. 19 Baylor and its second-ranked scoring defense could be in serious trouble.
In addition to leadership, Dixon brings tremendous talent to the table as an All-America and Thorpe Award candidate. A 6-foot, 205-pound safety from Waco, Texas, Dixon has appeared in 37 games since his freshman year in 2010, recording over 220 total tackles and three interceptions over that time.
Dixon ranks third among all Bears defenders with 17 total tackles through three games in 2013. He also defended a pass in the Baylor's most recent win over Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 21.
Baylor will host West Virginia on Oct. 5 to begin a four-game stretch against Big 12 bottom feeders. But head coach Art Briles and the Bears will want to make sure Dixon is out of trouble and in the lineup come November, when Baylor will play Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State in consecutive weeks.
