Jake Long Injury: Updates on Rams OT'S Knee, Likely Return Date
St. Louis Rams left tackle Jake Long exited Thursday evening's Week 4 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers with a knee injury.
Ben Volin of the Boston Globe pointed out how Long has had knee injuries in the past, which makes this latest potential setback concerning:
Uh oh, Jake Long down on the play. Got rolled up on his knee. Third or fourth time in his career now. Ouch— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) September 27, 2013
UPDATE: Friday, Sept. 27
From St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Jim Thomas:

Long is a four-time Pro Bowler but had missed six total games in the previous two seasons. That led to him leaving Miami and being picked up by the Rams as a free agent. He has been a nice return on the franchise's investment, but this injury threatens to derail that.
The Rams kept Long on a "pitch count" during training camp so he could take care of his body and rest ahead of the regular season.
Long did return to the game, and B/R injury expert Will Carroll noted how the brace Long had on his knee might have saved him:

Even with improvement at left tackle for apparent franchise quarterback Sam Bradford, though, St. Louis' offense is sputtering in 2013. The unit entered Thursday's NFC West battle ranked 23rd with 19.3 points per game and lost 35-11 to the Niners.
