TNA Impact! Wrestling: Styles and Carter Continue Feud, Aces and Eights Crumbles
The Thursday, September 26 edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling, which aired live from Little Rock, Ark., opened with the usual video package recapping Aces and Eights' group problems and the new feud between AJ Styles and Dixie Carter.
Carter was shown walking towards the arena. Sting told Carter that he was shocked at what happened last week with her confrontation with Styles. Carter replied back to Sting, telling "The Icon" that she will handle the station with Styles on her own.
Immediately after, Bully Ray and Miss Tessmacher came out to the ring. Ray spoke first about Carter, announcing that he was stunned about her appearance last week. The TNA World Heavyweight champion was quickly interrupted by the rest of the Aces and Eights group. Mike Knox began making fun of Miss Tessmacher and told Ray that the members of the group will take care of the Main Event Mafia.
Ray threatened that if Garett Bischoff, Wes Brisco and Knux were to lose to the Main Event Mafia, one of them would be kicked out of Aces and Eights.
TNA announcers Mike Tenay and Taz ran down through the lineup card for Impact! Wrestling before the first match took place.
Match No. 1: Robbie E, Jessie Godderz and Gail Kim vs. Eric Young, Joseph Park and ODB
Your winners via pinfall: Eric Young, Joseph Park and ODB.
This match had a little bit of everything a viewer could imagine. There was plenty of action, comical situations but most importantly, it had the right mix to make the match enjoyable. The crowd was also very into it, which helps the match look better on television.
Match Rating: 3/5.
Austin Aries came out to the ring and addressed the crowd that his future is looking very bright in TNA. Kenny King made his TNA television return and expressed his frustration on how Aries stole his X-Division belt last year. King claimed that he was the future of professional wrestling instead of Aries. After a small brawl in the ring, Aries demanded a referee to come out to the ring and challenged King to a match.
Match No. 2: Austin Aries vs. Kenny King
Your winner via pinfall: Austin Aries.
Aries and King brought their A-game to Impact! Wrestling. King, who seemed to have busted his forehead open during the commercial break, had a very strong return match and developed great chemistry with Aries.
Match Rating: 4/5.
After a commercial break, a video package aired hyping Lei'd Tapa's return to TNA. The Main Event Mafia are shown talking about their game plan against Aces and Eights.
Hulk Hogan came out to the ring to a loud pop from the crowd. The crowd continued to chant Hogan's name loudly. Hogan asked the crowd if they wanted to see Styles stay with TNA. The crowd, as expected, cheered loudly for Styles. Hogan said that later on Impact! Wrestling, he would solve this issue by bringing out Styles and Carter together.
TNA announced that Kurt Angle would return to the company on the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.
Match No. 3: Chris Sabin vs. Manik for the X-Division Championship
Your winner via pinfall to retain the X-Division belt: Manik.
This match was pretty disappointing, as it appeared Manik and Sabin were pretty limited. At this point, TNA is doing whatever it can to turn Sabin into one of the company's top heel figures, and his actions mean more than putting on great matches. However, this match was not a good follow-up from the previous battle between Aries and King.
Match Rating: 2.5/5.
Match No. 4: Mike Knox, Garett Bischoff and Wes Brisco vs. Sting, Samoa Joe and Magnus
Your winners via submission: Sting, Samoa Joe and Magnus.
With Brisco tapping out to Joe's choke hold, he is now officially out of the Aces and Eights. Ray came out to the ring and demanded Brisco's vest. After Ray hit a piledriver on Brisco, Bischoff and Knux took off his vest.
Match Rating: 3/5.
After a commercial break, Hogan invites Styles to the ring. Hogan gets down to business immediately and offers Styles a new TNA contract. Quickly afterwards, Carter came out to the ring and began to speak to Hogan. Carter told Hogan that he is just an employee but thanked him for his contributions. The TNA president takes the contract from Hogan and rips it up.
Carter demanded Styles to leave and gave Hogan a week to think about whether he will join her team or stay on the sidelines.
