The 2008-09 NFL season schedule was released on Tuesday, and the Buffalo Bills fans are already excited.

According to buffalobills.com, the Bills rank 27th in the league in strength of schedule for the 2008 season. The rankings are based upon the win/loss record of the previous season for the teams they are playing.

To headline Buffalo’s schedule, the Bills will appear in a Monday Night game for the second straight season. The game will pit the Buffalo Bills against the Cleveland Browns on November 17th. This game is a rematch of the pivotal match-up between the two teams last year, which helped clinch a playoff spot for the Browns.

The game last season between the Bills and Browns was cold and snowy (now commonly known as the Snow Bowl) and ended in an 8-0 win for Cleveland. This ended the playoff hopes for the Bills.

The fans will be eager to not only avenge last season’s loss to the Browns, but also prove to the world that the Bills fans will come out for Monday Night Football.

Last season, the Bills had a very disappointing Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys which ended in a 25-24 loss on a last second field goal by the Cowboys. However, the fans at Ralph Wilson Stadium were frantic and eager to get behind their team.

This year’s Monday Night game will be no different in Buffalo. The fans and will be crazy once again. No doubt, the team will attempt to match their intensity.

The Bills will face the Seahawks in week 1, and the Jaguars in week 2, whom are both playoff teams from a year ago. And Buffalo will face Oakland, St. Louis, and Arizona in the following three weeks.

The Bills will not open AFC East play until week 8 when the Bills play the Dolphins.

Overall, the Bills will hope to improve on last season’s 7-9 record and attempt the make the playoffs for the first time since the 2000 season. On paper, the Bills have the type of schedule which can allow for a solid season.

However, games aren’t played on paper. The Bills have another young and scrappy team that will hope to compete for a wild card spot in the AFC.
