West Ham United are trying to drum up ticket sales, and they've got an unusual way of doing it.

Rather than encourage locals to come and watch the Hammers, they're suggesting that when West Ham host Manchester City, it's the ideal time to watch "City's superstars."

As if to illustrate the point, they include a picture of West Ham's Mark Noble beside the words—a hard-working and committed midfielder, but not exactly Yaya Toure.

As the man who spotted the original ad says himself, perhaps we'll be seeing a bit more of these campaigns in the future.

After all, if West Ham need help filling out the Boleyn Ground for one of the top teams in the country, they'll have their work cut out when they move to the Olympic Stadium and have to sell out 55,000 seats.

Brilliant from West Ham...this is how to advertise. Will they be doing this every week at the Olympic Stadium? #lofc pic.twitter.com/94ndewmtgN
