Michael Jackson Statue Taken Down by Fulham at Craven Cottage
One of the strangest edifices at any sports stadium in the world has been removed, after Fulham took down their statue of Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage.
The statue was at the behest of former owner Mohamed Al-Fayed and was placed behind the Hammersmith Stand two years ago.
Fulham's new owner, Shahid Khan, said it was time for the statue to beat it, telling the Fulham official website:
Our supporters' views on the statue have been made clear. I respect Mr Al Fayed and know he had good intentions in paying an individual tribute. However, the removal of the statue is the right thing for Fulham Football Club.
Jackson watched a thriller at Craven Cottage in 1999 when Fulham beat Wigan 2-0.
Now Al-Fayed will be able to see the man in the mirror as the statue is being returned to him.
