The NBA is enjoying a period of time with plenty of star power. Starting with LeBron James and including the likes of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and many others, there's certainly no shortage of top-end talent in the league.

From a gaming perspective, with NBA 2K14 approaching its early October release, it means gamers have a large number of teams to choose from that will provide an entertaining experience. That should make sure the latest edition of the series stays fresh for a while.

Although there are numerous solid options, let's check out what should be the most exciting squads for gamers to use in NBA 2K14.

Miami Heat

Any team with LeBron would easily make the list. He's a dominating force in both the real and virtual worlds, using his immense talent and physical traits to completely take over games, as he often has en route to two straight NBA titles.

That's not all the Heat have, of course. Dwyane Wade can attack the paint, Chris Bosh provides the mid-range game, Ray Allen knocks down outside shots and Chris Andersen can defend down low. Miami has a player to fill every roll.

It also helps that gamers can use Wade or James to run the offense at all times, instead of just during key moments like the Heat do. That's because fatigue is far less of a factor in the virtual world, allowing all of Miami's stars to shine.

Brooklyn Nets

The Nets already had a solid foundation in place with Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez. That was certainly enough to put the team on the fringe of being a popular selection for gamers, but Brooklyn went out and added more.

By bringing in the likes of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry from the Boston Celtics, the Nets are now built to compete with the Heat. Add in the versatile Andrei Kirilenko and it's clear the NBA 2K14 Nets are going to have plenty of different lineup options.

In the real world, it's going to take some time for all of the pieces to jell together. Luckily, that's not as much of a concern in the video game, where the players should have instant chemistry, making them a terrific team to utilize.

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are on the verge of a major breakthrough. While the team will have to wait until next year's playoffs to prove how much progress has been made, gamers will likely be winning a boatload of games with Golden State long before that.

What makes the Warriors so intriguing is their large number of scoring options. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson can score from anywhere and Andre Iguodala is a perfect complement on the wing. Down low, David Lee and Andrew Bogut are a solid one-two punch.

It's a group that can get up and down the floor well, which translates well to video games, and will have no trouble lighting up the scoreboard. Even without as many established stars as the two previous teams, the Warriors figure to become a favorite pick for gamers.
