When Manchester City and Wigan Athletic meet on Tuesday in a Capital One Cup third-round tie, things will look vastly different than they did when these two last met.

In the FA Cup final last May, Wigan subjected City to a surprise 1-0 defeat.

However, among a host of changes, both squads have different managers at the helm.

There is also the little fact that City spent £90 million on bringing in new talent this past summer.

City had an up-and-down start to the season, but all the new parts are beginning to gel. They have won their last two matches by a combined score of 7-1.

Meanwhile, Wigan has been uneven after being relegated to the Championship.

Key Storyline: Will Manchester City Suffer a Letdown?

Let's face it, Manchester City has far too much firepower for Wigan Athletic. So, if Wigan is going to win, it is going to take a substandard performance from Manuel Pellegrini's side.

That possibility is not out of the equation. Manchester City is coming off of their impressive win in the Manchester derby. Beating arch rivals Manchester United 4-1 on Saturday in front of their home fans was a significant highpoint for City so early in the season.

It is natural for City to look beyond this Capital One contest. But there is the little issue of revenge. While Pellegrini was not at City last May, he will use Wigan's FA Cup triumph to motivate his players.

Prediction: Manchester City 4, Wigan Athletic 1

Manchester City's potent attack will be too much for Wigan to handle.

While City players may struggle to rouse themselves after their victory in the Manchester derby, the side is too talented not to produce a dominant performance against Wigan.
