Lance Moore Injury: Updates on Saints WR's Wrist
Wide receiver Lance Moore left the New Orleans Saints' Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals with what appeared to be a wrist injury, as Katherine Terrell of The Times-Picayune initially reported.
After missing several weeks of action, Moore is active for Week 8.
Lance Moore will play in Week 8, the Saints confirmed.
UPDATE: Sunday, Oct. 6
Lance Moore is inactive for Week 5, the Saints confirmed.
Lance Moore hauled in one reception—on three targets—for six yards prior to exiting the contest with the wrist issue in the second half of an eventual 31-7 victory for New Orleans in Week 3.
The eight-year veteran now has four catches for 44 yards on the season and may not be as big a part of the offense going forward regardless of his health.
Moore has been seeing increasingly fewer snaps as the season progresses and was only on the field for 59 percent of the Saints’ offensive plays in Week 3 prior the injury, according to Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus.
@4for4_John Although his injury had something to do with the low Week 3, he was at 59% before his last snap.— Nathan Jahnke (@PFF_NateJahnke) September 23, 2013
Quarterback Drew Brees has been spreading the ball around more than ever, with seven other receivers recording at least one reception against Arizona.
Robert Meachem figures to be a bigger part of the aerial attack, as he scored his first touchdown Sunday since his return to the Big Easy. He spent a dreadful, unproductive season with the San Diego Chargers in 2012.
Newly acquired veteran Benjamin Watson is also going to take away some looks from Moore, as the athletic tight end joins Jimmy Graham to create a formidable one-two punch at the position. Brees also loves throwing to Marques Colston and Darren Sproles.
