It didn't take long for Trent Richardson to make an impact in his Indianapolis Colts debut.

Yes, his first carry as a Colt came at the 1-yard line for a touchdown. Indianapolis fans celebrated, and Cleveland Browns fans likely grumbled.

The 22-year-old had a productive debut—at least for fantasy owners. He ran for 35 yards and a score on 13 carries as his team upset the San Francisco 49ers.

In the short term, fantasy football owners couldn't have been too happy with the midweek trade, as it was unlikely he was going to put up huge numbers this week after only a few days with his new team. In the long term, however, Richardson will likely see a nice boost in production now that he will begin to work his way into the Colts' game plan.

Now that he will have a full week to work with Indianapolis, Richardson will be able to put up his usual numbers, if not better. The multi-purpose back has nearly 1,100 rushing yards in his career, but he has been utilized out of the backfield as well. He has averaged 7.2 yards on 58 career receptions.

The Colts will be able to ease him into the offense. They will head to Jacksonville in Week 4 where they should be able to run at will against the Jaguars. Jacksonville entered Week 3 as the second-worst run defense in the league with an average of 173.5 yards against per game.

Richardson will rack up the yards on the ground and out of the backfield next week, so fantasy owners should be ready for a lot of points out of the former No. 3 overall pick.
