Manchester United may have been on the wrong end of a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City, but they did enjoy the champagne moment of the match thanks to Wayne Rooney.

With 87 minutes gone and the game already lost, Rooney booted in a stupendous free-kick, curled with precision into the far corner of the net past Joe Hart.

It will quickly be forgotten in the scheme of the crushing defeat, but there is a reason to note it: It makes Rooney Manchester United's top scorer in Manchester derbies. He now is on his own with 11 goals.
