UPDATE: Friday, Sept. 20
ESPN's Coley Harvey has the latest on Bernard:
A day after being placed in limited practice participation, Cincinnati Bengalsrunning back Giovani Bernard was working out again in full capacity Friday morning.
The rookie was back running through holes and working in the passing game during the portion of the walk-through that was open to media. Coach Marvin Lewis said he wanted to hold Bernard out Thursday for precautionary reasons, but he had no reason to believe the first-year standout wouldn't play Sunday when Cincinnati hosts Green Bay.
A second-round draft pick out of North Carolina, Bernard was sensational for the Bengals in their Week 2 win over the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers, carrying the ball eight times for 38 yards and a score and catching a 27-yard touchdown pass to seal the game.
The 21-year-old back's injury is sure to send shock waves through the fantasy world as well. Bernard is owned in 100 percent of all ESPN fantasy leagues and was the fourth-highest scoring running back in standard scoring ESPN leagues in Week 2.
The Bengals will need Bernard to recover and return to 100 percent quickly with the Green Bay Packers set to come to town in Week 3.
Bernard is a versatile talent who can carry the ball or catch it out of the backfield. He rushed for over 1,200 yards and caught at least 45 balls in each of the his final two seasons at North Carolina.
