The Cleveland Browns' decision to trade Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts not only sent shock waves reverberating across the NFL, but it also apparently paved the way for the continuation of Willis McGahee's career.

Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network reported Thursday that McGahee would become a member of the Cleveland Browns:

Willis McGahee passed his physical, team sources tell me. He is now a member of the Browns.

The Browns later confirmed the signing on Twitter:

The Browns have signed RB Willis McGahee.

Jason La Canfora learned Wednesday that the veteran running back was brought to Cleveland, whereupon he'll take a physical and sign with the Browns if given a clean bill of health:

Browns will be signing free agent RB Willis McGahee if he passes a physical.
