New York Yankees Announcer John Sterling Calls a Caught Ball a Home Run

Tristan ThornburghSocial Media StaffSeptember 18, 2013

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I got that all wrong."

Longtime New York Yankees play-by-play announcer John Sterling likely confused a lot of his listeners last night as he called an Alex Rodriguez fly-ball out a home run. Sterling's first attempt at correcting himself was also way off base, as he then claimed the flyout had bounced over the wall.

In reality, the ball died at the warning track, and was snagged by Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Rajai Davis.

The Yankees could have used a home run last night, as they were shut out by the Blue Jays, 2-0.
