El Nino has taken the Premier League by storm in his debut season with 22 goals in the league. He even cemented himself a superhero by scoring the winning goal in the Merseyside derby.
It is hard to imagine that a lot of sceptics were concerned when Liverpool broke their transfer record to sign Torres for 26.5 million pounds.
When the deal went through, many thought the Reds grossly overpaid for the Spaniard in order to keep up with Chelsea and Manchester United's spending spree.
Torres has been so good he makes Crouch look ordinary and fight to stay in the playing eleven.
"It is what I was dreaming for. I expected it to take more time. Achieving all that in the first season is amazing," he told the club's official website.
What a stunning achievement for a player in his first season. No wonder his fellow players have nominated him for the PFA awards.
It is great to see the way Torres and Mr Liverpool Steven Gerrard have combined to produce scintillating passes, wonderful through-balls and stunning finishes.
Is there a better partnership in English football at the moment than Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres?
The fact that they have both been nominated for PFA player of the year speaks volumes about what a wonderful season they have both had.
"I have never scored 30 goals in a season in my career and I have made it here. It has been helped by the team's style of football."
This is stating the obvious that Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is something special.
If he stays healthy, Torres can become a new Mr Liverpool for years to come. And if he does that, it wont be long before the Reds end their English league title drought.

I never had any doubts about Torres. He was born to play in the EPL. I'm afraid Rooney and Ronaldo just nicks it for now.

he has been the best striker in europe this season, no doubt about it. i think he made the best possible decision since liverpool really needed him, and he really needed a club like liverpool to fulfil his potential.
but when it comes to MR.Liverpool, its always going to be Stevie G though is it not? He makes Torres tick in my opinion since he seems to be the only player that is on the same wavelength with Torres in Liverpool.
With Babel earning more experience. The Liverpool strike force (if all fit) should really be banging in plenty of goals next season.

no doubt about it, gerrard and torres are a prolific partnership. They combine time and time again to do wonderful things. It'll be interesting to see next year how they can up the ante. If they have a better supporting cast, could you see Torres and Gerrard taking Liverpool to the title?

i think they just need to play every game..........it's that rotation policy that will prove a stumble in their path to the league title.........

and torres is prone to injuries....if he is consistent he will be the best thing to happen to liverpool in the recent past........

Prone to injuries?! 30 goals for a crock isn't bad however bitterly you try to sound.

There's a few reasons I love Torres:
1) He seems a little shocked by his success
2) He gets fired up when he is scoring towards the Kop end and loves Liverpool
3) hat tricks...keep 'em coming.
I have seen him get knocked around a little bit, and I think that is the best way to defend him...be overly physical with him....if you can catch him.

Player of the season in my opinion. Humble, stays on his feet not falling over trying to win free kicks every time a defender is near him. 30+ goals in a debut season in the Premier League says it all.
Torres has the potential to be something realy realy special, just wish he was playing for my team Newcastle, lol!!

Torres has indeed been great. Although for £26m you would expect to be getting a great player, fair play to the lad for settling in so quickly though and now he’s set the standard for the next few seasons.
As for Player of the Year. Well, any other year and he would be the favourite but I’m afraid it’s just not on for him with Ronaldo around at the moment. Ronaldo has out-scored him in the Premiership and Champions League as well as out-performing him in the Premiership – Torres did nothing against the big teams in the Premiership (only the one goal in games against the top four, although admittedly he had limited game time against Arsenal). He should win the Young Player PFA award though as even though Ronaldo was again nominated surely most won’t have voted for him for both awards again.
The real question for Liverpool though is even after adding a quality player in Torres, the team still hasn’t progressed and still find themselves as very much the fourth club of the “top four”. Even with the addition of Torres, the rest of the team as a whole seems to have gone backwards. Surely not a good sign…

Torres was good before he came to Liverpool, and obviously playing in a team which includes Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Carragher..et al., doesn't do your chances of scoring a bag full of goals any harm.
Liverpool may not the best team in the EPL, but they are the one team that you can count on for entertainment value, and edge of your seat fun. Football is about scoring goals, playing attacking football, and star players doing things that others cannot. Benitez is a master, and his proteges have the ability to win the Champs League, unless they meet Christiano Ronaldo in the final!

I find it interesting that Ronaldo has scored 5 of his 38 goals on penalties. He's missed one match due to injury.
Torres has scored all of his 30 goals in open play...no penalties. He's missed 3 matches. I think Ronaldo probably deserves the player of the year. But Torres is closer than he's getting credit for. The award isn't just for goals, but that is a huge factor.
