South Carolina defensive standout Jadeveon Clowney is dealing with lingering pain in his right foot that gets progressively worse as games go on, and he plans to have surgery after the season to eliminate the problem.

Matt Connolly and Rudy Jones of the Spartanburg Herald Journal passed along the comments from Clowney, who's viewed as an elite NFL prospect due to his pass-rushing ability.

"It only bothers me when I'm out there. It just builds up pain," he said. "The more I keep going the more it bothers me."

Clowney plans to have surgery this offseason to fix the problem.

"I'm going to get it cleaned out after the season's over with," he said.
