Werder Bremen's Franco Di Santo Kung-Fu Kicks Opponent, Gets Red Card
Franco Di Santo moved from Wigan to Werder Bremen in the summer, but so far the biggest mark he's left in Germany has been on his Eintracht Frankfurt opponent's head.
Di Santo, an Argentina international, went in for a challenge with his boot at head height and his studs showing. He missed the ball and caught his opponent, Bastian Oczipka, square in the head.
It was no surprise, then, to see the red card turned out immediately. Referees can sometimes have a difficult time assessing what was a genuine foul or not—there were no such concerns on this occasion.
Things only got worse for Werder Bremen thereafter, as they rolled over to a 3-0 defeat.
They currently sit 13th in the Bundesliga table with two wins and three losses from their opening five matches, while Eintracht leapfrogged them in the standings after the victory.
