Arizona State Upsets No. 20 Wisconsin 32-30 After Wild Finish
Things just got interesting in Tempe, Ariz.
The Arizona State Sun Devils improved to 2-0 late Saturday night after upsetting the No. 20 Wisconsin Badgers 32-30. Despite a pair of turnovers, ASU was able to hold on late, stopping a Wisconsin two-point conversion attempt to seal the victory.
It was a strong performance from ASU, which became the first team to score on Wisconsin this season.
Now, ASU will prepare for next week's Pac-12 showdown with No. 5 Stanford. If the Sun Devils play as well as they did on Saturday, they'll cross another ranked opponent off their hit list.
ASU was far from perfect against Wisconsin, but they had glimpses of brilliance. After a rough start to the second half, the Sun Devils were able to string together three straight scoring drives.
Running back Marion Grice was the one who touched paydirt on each of those drives. The senior from Houston practically camped out in the endzone, racking up 134 total yards and scoring four touchdowns on 18 carries.
ASU also got a great performance out of sophomore receiver Jaelen Strong, who caught six passes for 104 yards.
With the loss, Wisconsin falls to 2-1 on the season. Next week, they will entertain the Purdue Boilermakers in Madison.
