Kenny Guiton Explodes onto Scene in Place of Injured Braxton Miller
With their starting quarterback sidelined on Saturday, Ohio State turned to fifth-year senior Kenny Guiton. And Guiton did not disappoint.
The Houston native shredded the Cal Golden Bears, completing 21-of-32 passes for 276 yards and four touchdowns. He also wreaked some havoc on the ground, rushing for 92 yards on 14 carries in OSU's dominant 52-34 victory.
Guiton and the Buckeyes started fast, as the QB tossed three touchdowns in the game's first six minutes. He came down to earth a bit as the game progressed, but the damage had already been done.
It was a strong performance from Guiton, who proved to be a capable option at QB last week. After Braxton Miller left the game with a sprained left MCL, Guiton dropped 151 yards and two touchdowns against San Diego State.
He improved upon that showing on Saturday, which should be an encouraging development for Urban Meyer and the Buckeye faithful. He's no Braxton Miller, but Guiton proved that the team is in good hands while Miller recovers.
