Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is a Boxing Diva, Doesn't Enjoy Honey in His Coffee
Never, and we mean never, put honey in Money's coffee.
Business Insider's Tony Manfred spotted a hilarious video from Fight Hub TV that features Floyd Mayweather Jr. giving an interview and sipping on coffee.
Knowing what we do about Money May, things couldn't be that easy nor that dull. The boxer who faces a formidable foe Saturday in the form of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez finds out that there is something strange going on with this coffee.
Enjoy the video that we warn has some NSFW language.
In simple terms, this is a video of a legendary boxer acting like a diva in front of a captivated audience. There is something off about his coffee, and he is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Some sleuthing and another sip later, he has it: There's honey in here.
"Did you put honey in this coffee?" Mayweather asks someone offscreen. We hear some unintelligible answers and assume people are freaking behind the scenes.
The boxer then demands, "Man, why'd you do that?" After flipping out for a spell, Mayweather asserts, "You put honey in tea."
Now he really didn't have to berate one of his entourage members so viciously, but that just wouldn't be Mayweather otherwise.
Diving deeper into this two-minute video, you begin to see a great deal of what Manfred does when he writes, "He's playing a role as an act of shameless self-promotion, turning himself into a caricature like so many fighters have done before him."
The man isn't just sending back coffee; he is living up to the bigger-than-life persona we have all come to expect from him—a person who commands crowds and garners millions to plunk down $75 to see him fight.
It's remarkable considering how refined and measured he is in the ring. Mayweather is a master tactician, waiting out his opponents with stout defense and impeccable form.
His personality outside the ring couldn't be any more different than who he is when taking on another fighter.
He is brash, cocky and above all polarizing. You either love him or love to hate him, and well before you ever consider his boxing acumen.
In short, he isn't one to sit back and sip on some honey-flavored coffee. Also, the story about his buddy putting diesel in a Ferrari is rather hilarious.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Anyone else would just be boring.
