The first two weeks of the college football season served as a glorified preseason for most teams, but that all changes in Week 3.
Those powerhouse-against-cupcake contests are over, and it’s now time for the big boys to square off. Whether these games are for a shot at the national championship, for improved positioning in the Top 25 polls or for plain ol’ respect, there’s plenty to tune in for this weekend.
Any football fan worth his or her salt will have to watch the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide take on Johnny Manziel’s sixth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
It’s a rematch of last year’s epic battle in which Johnny Football dissected the ‘Bama defense and handed head coach Nick Saban his only loss during a championship-winning season.
Outside of that marquee battle, fans can catch No. 2 Oregon against Tennessee at the same time—a game you'll probably flip to during commercials unless you are an alumni of one of those programs.
Before those contests kick off, you may be interested in watching No. 16 UCLA battle No. 23 Nebraska at noon ET. It’s a rematch of last year’s 36-30 brawl that went in the Bruins' favor.
Two teams just outside the rankings are involved in pivotal matchups later in the evening.
No. 19 Washington is travelling to play Illinois in a game that could go either way, and Arizona State is hoping to make a splash and jump into the polls by knocking off No. 20 Wisconsin in a matchup at Sun Devil Stadium. The action gets started at 10:30 p.m. ET, capping off an epic day of college football.
