As soon as he’s ready and able to help us and we are able to play him, certainly he will have a role in the game. He definitely did make a big impact in Game 1.
I don’t know if we can expect him to do that right off the bat in his first game back, whenever that is, [but] we’ll look forward to having him back.

Shane Vereen was spotted in the Patriots locker room with no hard cast on his injured wrist Thursday. Last Thursday, Vereen was seen working out on Gillette Stadium's practice fields with his hand/wrist heavily wrapped.
Vereen isn't eligible to play in a game until Week 10, but since that is the Patriots bye week, he won't make his return to New England's offense until Week 11 against the Panthers.

Coach Bill Belichick answered a question about Gronkowski by saying that the team sees all of their injured players as “day-to-day” on a Monday conference call and then was asked if Amendola is more week-to-week because of the nature of his injuries.
“I’d say really all of our players are day-to-day other than obviously [running back Shane] Vereen. I know the rest of them we’ll just take it day-to-day,” Belichick said.

For how Shane Vereen's injury impacts the Patriots, check out this video from Aaron Nagler of Bleacher Report.
While at first glance losing Vereen , who had far fewer carries than Stevan Ridleylast season , may not appear like a huge hit to the Patriots ' offense , offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will certainly miss what the third -year back brings to the table.
The versatile Vereen rushed for 101 yards on just 14 carries against Buffalo and picked up another 58 yards through the air.
The injury to Vereen 's wrist will also have a huge impact in the fantasy world as the 24 -year -old back is owned in 100 percent Fantasy Football leagues in 2013.
A second -round pick in the 2011 NFL draft , Vereen has played in 19 regular -season games for New England since his rookie season , averaging 4 .5 yards per carry on 91 attempts over that time . He also demonstrated potential as a receiver out of the backfield last season , catching eight passes for 149 yards and a score.
He finished the year with a yards -per -reception average of 18.6.
In the postseason last year , Vereen had a memorable performance in the AFC Divisional Round against the Houston Texans , rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown and catching five passes for 83 yards and two scores .
Vereen is currently in the third year of a four -year rookie deal . Barring a contract extension with New England , he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2014 season .
