Big 12 Football: Oklahoma State Moves Up, Texas Drops Out of Latest Polls
Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Get crushed by BYU on the road, drop out of both the latest Associated Press poll and USA Today coaches poll. That's the story for Texas on Sunday.

The Longhorns dropped from No. 15 (AP) and No. 16 (coaches) straight out of the top 25 after giving up a school record 550 yards on the ground to the Cougars in a 40-21 loss Saturday night.

Naturally, the vibe in Austin is, shall we say, anxious.

But while the 'Horns try to pick up the pieces, here's how the other ranked Big 12 schools fared coming out of Week 2. And, as always, I'll reveal where I had each Big 12 team ranked in our Bleacher Report top 25

Oklahoma State: No. 12 (AP); No. 11 (USA Today)

The Cowboys took care of business on Saturday against UTSA, and J.W. Walsh further cemented himself as the starting quarterback with a terrific passing performance that saw him throw more touchdowns than interceptions.

As I mentioned in this weekend's recap, Oklahoma State is currently playing some of the best football in the conference so far. The fact Mike Gundy's team remains the highest ranked team from the Big 12 in both polls makes sense.

Where I ranked 'em: No. 13

Oklahoma: No. 14 (AP); No. 13 (USA Today)

Oklahoma couldn't get much of anything going in a 16-7 win over West Virginia on Saturday. Redshirt freshman quarterback Trevor Knight had a tough night and ultimately got benched in the fourth quarter in favor of Blake Bell. OU's running game looks strong and the defense is still playing well (albeit against an anemic WVU offense), but Knight needs to be able to rebound.

Putting OU inside the top 15 is probably fine for now. It'll be interesting to see how the Sooners continue to play going forward.

Who is the best team in the Big 12?

Where I ranked 'em: No. 17

TCU: No. 24 (AP); No. 24 (USA Today)

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Horned Frogs starting quarterback Casey Pachall is expected to miss eight weeks with a broken forearm. That's a tough blow for TCU, but this team should be in the capable hands of Trevone Boykin

TCU didn't look particularly good against Southeastern Louisiana, but it can get back on track next Thursday against Texas Tech. I'm still high on Gary Patterson's team, but the Horned Frogs need to start jelling quickly.

Where I ranked 'em: 15

Baylor: No. 22 (AP); No. 22 (USA Today)

The only thing the Bears can't do at this point is not score points. This is an exciting team that, along with Oklahoma State, is playing some of the best football in the Big 12 right now. We'll see if Baylor can keep it up, but this is as exciting a team as any in the country.

Where I ranked 'em: 19
