Biggest Winners and Losers for Week 1 of the NFL
You could end the argument right now who the biggest winner was in Week 1: Peyton Manning.
The Denver Broncos quarterback began the NFL season unlike any other quarterback by throwing seven touchdowns, setting a new NFL record. Everyone's been talking about his epic performance since Thursday night.
Peyton's brother Eli didn't fare quite as well. The Giants quarterback threw for almost as many yards as Peyton did, but also threw three very costly interceptions to Dallas as the Cowboys beat the Giants 36-31. It wasn't all on Eli, though. The Giants had a total of six turnovers, including two fumbles by David Wilson. That's why the Giants are huge losers in Week 1.
Remember a guy named Andrew Luck? Luck was probably the least talked about Year 2 quarterback. But he once again showed amazing poise in the Indianapolis Colts' 21-17 come-from-behind win over the Raiders. Luck ran for 19 yards for the game-winning score.
The Pittsburgh Steelers looked dreadful. Their running game was non-existent in their 16-9 loss at home to the Tennessee Titans. The Steelers had 195 total yards on offense. To make matters worse, Pittsburgh's Pro Bowl center got injured and is likely to miss a fair amount of time.
