Nadal vs. Gasquet: Score and Highlights from US Open 2013 Men's Semi Finals
Nadal def. Gasquet, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2
After No. 1 Novak Djokovic booked his place in the U.S. Open men's singles final earlier in the day, No. 2 Rafael Nadal did his part to solidify a dream final on Monday night.
Nadal methodically carved apart No. 8 Richard Gasquet in a straight set victory that lasted just two hours and 21 minutes.
The Spaniard suffered few bumps on his smoothly paved road to the star-studded affair on Monday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Nadal was broken for the first time in the tournament early on in the second set by Gasquet, but he responded well with a few breaks of his own on the way to a 7-1 win in the tiebreak.
In the third set, Nadal broke down the Frenchman with an early break followed by plenty of ruthless shots until the very end.
Nadal will be looking to win his second U.S. Open title on Monday night when he squares off against Djokovic.
