It’s only Week 2 of the college football season, but the drama of the Heisman watch and potential upsets is in full swing.

While there aren’t many high-profile matchups this week, the seemingly easy slate of games for top teams should provide plenty of highlights to help fuel the early Heisman debate.

Like every early week of the season, the scheduling gods at least gave us a couple of intriguing matchups.

Michigan vs. Notre Dame and South Carolina vs. Georgia Highlight Week 2 Games

Michigan hosts Notre Dame in the Saturday night game in what could be the last matchup between the two for quite a while. The last time we saw the two teams under the lights at the Big House, there were fireworks. After two lead changes in less than a minute, Denard Robinson won the game for Michigan with a 16-yard touchdown toss to Roy Roundtree with just two seconds left on the clock.

Then there’s an SEC showdown between South Carolina and Georgia. If the Bulldogs falter, they’ll drop to 0-2. That might not kill their season, though. Two years ago Aaron Murray led his team to the SEC title game after dropping their first two contests.

Upset Alert: Florida Gators

The in-state rivalry between the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes hasn’t taken place since 2008, and won’t again for some time.

Florida is packed with top talent, but its offense, while capable, has looked stagnant at times over the past two seasons. It’s the Gators D, though, that is keeping them afloat.

That defense will have a huge test on Saturday against the Hurricanes’ athletically gifted offense. That group is led by dynamic running back Duke Johnson.

So, will the Gators fall and will Heisman contenders explode on the stat sheet? Can the Irish walk into Ann Arbor and beat coach Brady Hoke for the first time on his home field?

We’ll be here for you all day keeping you up to date on the latest developments around the nation. If there’s an upset brewing or a Heisman contender exploding, you’ll find instant analysis and commentary right here at Bleacher Report.
