Shane Victorino Makes Diving Catch and Retrieves Fan's Cell Phone
Shane Victorino made a leaping catch into the stands on Wednesday night, and followed it up by saving a woman's cell phone after it landed on the field next to him, proving that he saves more than just fly balls.
While the catch from the right fielder for the Boston Red Sox is impressive enough, following it up with the polite act of returning the woman's cell phone is icing on the cake.
If you look closely, you can see that the fan next to the woman is so excited about Victorino's catch that he actually knocks the phone out of her hands, causing it to land on the field.
Luckily for the fan who committed the blunder, Victorino is a nice enough guy to give back the phone.
So glad Victorino didn't steal that guy's wallet and phone. Boston sports doesn't need any more legal drama.— Beth C (@stillbethc) September 5, 2013
Victorino's catch and save caught the attention of the nation. And how could it not with shots like this?

Victorino's nickname is derived from his Hawaiian descent, but ESPN found the name appropriate after his play on Wednesday.
So, that’s why they call Shane Victorino the Flyin' Hawaiian.— ESPN (@espn) September 5, 2013
All joking aside, Victorino had a great game, and he won over a Boston fan he hadn't already impressed with his play this season.
Shane Victorino has won me over. He's a player. @RedSox made a good move this off season.— Shawn McBreairty (@Cravenfan) September 5, 2013
Victorino's skill and chivalry were both on display Wednesday night, and you can bet that videos of him heroically saving a lost cell phone will be popping up everywhere over the next week or so.
