The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs lost, 6-2, to the Richmond Braves Sunday afternoon.
OF Mike Spidale was promoted to the Iron Pigs from Double-A Reading before the game to replace Chris Snelling. Snelling was recalled to Philadelphia after Shane Victorino was injured on Saturday night.
Spidale went 0-for-3 in his International League debut as the Iron Pigs lead-off hitter.
The Reading Phillies defeated the Altoona Curve on Sunday by a score of 7-3. Carlos Carrasco put together another solid outing, allowing two earned runs over six innings of work. Justin Pope continued to pitch well out of the R-Phils' bullpen, pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Jake Blalock was promoted to Reading from Single-A Clearwater to replace the promoted Spidale on the 24-man roster.
The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Lakeland Tigers, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon. Joe Savery received the win, pitching eight innings of shutout baseball. Carlos Leon sparked the Threshers from the lead-off spot, going 2-for 4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in.
The Lakewood BlueClaws defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds, 7-4, in 11 innings. Dennis Winn appeared in his second game for the BlueClaws, going 1-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.
Jared Simon continued his strong start to the year, receiving the win after giving up one run in three-and-a-third innings pitched.
