The Bombers have acquired some depth for their offensive line by acquiring offensive lineman Kelly Bates from the BC Lions. In return, the Bombers sent a conditional pick in the 2011 Canadian Draft to the Lions.

The 2007 CFL All-Star has been a key component to BC's dominate offensive line for the last couple of seasons and should help the Bombers who lost Alexandre Gauthier and Dominique Picard to free agency.

In a statement, Bomber's head coach Mike Kelly said, "Kelly has proven to be a solid, durable starter in our league and is accustomed to winning,"
