Few Colts Reserves Take Advantage of Opportunities in 27-10 Loss

CINCINNATI — It's the closest NFL players come to having the last word. In a league where tape tells the tale and players are cut and traded as though they're commodities, the Colts' preseason finale Thursday at Cincinnati provided a number of prospects with tenuous status a final chance to sell themselves. A few did, but many others failed in that regard. The Colts' backups were outplayed, out-gained and out-muscled at times in the 27-10 loss to the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. Rather than make coaches' decisions more difficult ahead of Saturday's deadline to trim rosters to the regular-season limit of 53, coach Chuck Pagano and his staff instead will have to sift through a fair share shortcomings.
