The transfer deadline is quickly approaching, so Liverpool must be aggressive in their pursuit of Mamadou Sakho.

Brendan Rodgers is still looking to add pieces, and Sakho may be the next addition according to Sky Italy (via CNN Sports' Tancredi Palmeri):

Paris Saint-Germain appears willing to sell Sakho for the right price. It's unknown what it will take to actually make a deal happen, but Liverpool must find a way to sign him.

The Reds suffered several injuries on Tuesday, which intensifies the need for a big signing. Kolo Toure, Aly Cissokho and Joe Allen all left the game with injuries.

Signing a centre-back is a need, and Sakho would certainly fit the description.

The 23-year-old uses strength and speed to his advantage. He is a very physical defender who has a ton of potential. The centre-back has a good feel for seeing the field and has the ability to make tackles at the right time.

According to WhoScored, Sakho was one of the best passers in Ligue 1 last season. He completed 91.6 percent of his passes and won 3.1 aerial duels per game last season. He also had a rating of 7.12, which was just another category in which he was among the best in the league.

His skill set would fit well in Rodgers' system. Liverpool focus on maintaining possession, and Sakho would give the Reds a defender who can challenge opponents and make smart plays. He doesn't fold into pressure and give the ball up, using his intelligence to work out of tough situations.

He does a good job of avoiding cards. Some physical players are unable to make clean challenges, but that isn't an issue with the 23-year-old.

Sakho is a very good player right now, but he has the ability to get even better.

Mark Rodden of ESPNFC.com reported that the defender wants to leave his current club. Now would be a great time for Liverpool to come in and sign Sakho. If he gets the chance to play for another club, he will be motivated to reach his full potential.

With the recent injuries, there is a need for a big signing. Sakho would fill a need for the Reds, and he would instantly help the squad.

His side is dealing with injuries right now, but Rodgers could help solidify the defense by signing Sakho. Although PSG may not want to let him go, Liverpool needs to find a way to get a deal done.
