The Golden State Warriors' season comes down to today, again.
This time, however, the game is not in their hands.
It will be in the hands of the Denver Nuggets as they face off against the Houston Rockets tonight at 6:00 PM (PST) in Denver.
The Warriors stayed alive in the hunt with a 122-116 win Saturday night over the Los Angeles Clippers in Oakland. Stephen Jackson's shooting stroke showed up, as he led the Warriors with 28 points. Baron Davis added 25 points and nine assists in a game that keeps the Warriors' hopes alive.
The Nuggets and Warriors are tied for the eighth seed in the Western Conference, but the Nuggets own the series tiebreaker, 3-1. Owning the tiebreaker provides the Nuggets with an extra game against the Warriors.
But the Nuggets should be concerned with their game against the Rockets, as everyone involved with Golden State will be.
Warriors supporters will be dressed in Houston apparel while watching the game tonight. Even Warriors players are openly admitting their alliance with the Rockets.
"We need the whole Bay Area to root Houston on," forward Al Harrington told Contra Costa Times, "We're Houston fans for one night."
Forward Kelenna Azubuike gave Houston forward Chuck Hayes, a former teammate at University of Kentucky, a phone call Saturday night with a simple message.
"Please win for us," Azubuike said, "We've been boys for a long time. I never asked you to do anything. Do this one thing for me."
If Houston can do this one thing for the Warriors, all the pressure will be back on for them to finish off their playoff push. The Warriors will need to win their final two games of the regular season in order to separate from Denver.
The Warriors face the Phoenix Suns Monday night in Phoenix at 7:00 PM (PST).
