Insanity: Mike Aviles

Mike Aviles continues to struggle at the plate. For me, watching his at bats is becoming increasingly painful.
I can appreciate the Royals giving him ample time to break from his slump, if ever he is going to. However, if he would alter his batting stance, maybe I could appreciate it a little less bitterly.
Aviles steps to the plate like he's a force to be reckoned with. Then, he proceeds to twirl his bat in an intimidating nature.
Someone needs to inform the guy that he's no power house.
Maybe this stance was affective in the minors but he's playing with the big boys now. And you can't intimidate a pitcher if he already knows you can't hit the ball.
Speaking of the minors, if anyone were to happen across the Omaha Royals home page, they would find a photo of Aviles sporting the red and blue jersey displayed prominately in the top right corner.
Surely, the Royals don't hold him as their most proud accomplishment. Therefore, I can only assume that his photo is still being displayed because they recognize Omaha is where he belongs and he shall soon return.
Thus far, in 2009, Aviles has made 104 plate appearances. He's only acquired 21 hits. With a batting average of .202, something needs to change soon.
If it's between a relocation or a new approach to the plate, I favor the latter.
Aviles was a positive attribute to Kansas City last season. I believe he still can be in 2009.
They say insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again while expecting different results.
If Aviles cannot recognize this, my only hope is that Kansas City Royals hitting coach, Kevin Seitzer, will.
