UEFA Champions League playoff round, Emirates Stadium, London
Arsenal 2-0 Fenerbahce (full time)
GOALS: Ramsey 25', 72'
FULL TIME: 2-0
That's it. Arsenal have reached the Champions League group stage for the 16th straight season. Aaron Ramsey, who was excellent, scored both goals, and it was an easy win in the end.
Now time to make some moves in the transfer market.
90'—ARS 2-0 FEN
Into stoppage time…
Ryo crosses from the right for Jenkinson, who makes solid contact with his first-time shot—but Volkan saves!
Meanwhile, Ramsey has left the pitch with an apparent groin issue.
Pardon, it was Jenkinson with the pass on the Wilshere shot.
Ramsey picks out Wilshere on the left with a nice cross-field pass. Wilshere cuts inside a shoots…
…but it's right at the keeper.
Wilshere skips around a few challenges before being felled by Gokhan with a cynical, nasty challenge. It's a yellow, but for me should have been a red.
85'—ARS 2-0 FEN
Bruno Alves knocks Jack Wilshere down with a cynical body-check in midfield. No card.
Cazorla slams the free kick into the wall.
83'—ARS 2-0 FEN
Final change for Fener. Mehmet Topuz replaces Moussa Sow.
Arsenal have made all their substitutions. Wilshere looks fine.
Worrisome for Arsenal. Wilshere is injured. Looks like his ankle.
77'—ARS 2-0 FEN
Free kick to Fenerbahce. Bruno Alves takes it, and it's an easy save for Szczesny.
75'—ARS 2-0 FEN
Final change for Arsenal. Ryo replaces Walcott. That means Wilshere, Ramsey and Cazorla will all go the full 90.
What is it with Aaron Ramsey and Fenerbahçe? Beautiful instep finish; he now has four in four against them.— Andy Brassell (@andybrassell) August 27, 2013
2-0. Beautiful, beautiful goal. Lovely move ends with Gibbs crossing for Ramsey to score with a delicate side-foot volley.— gunnerblog (@gunnerblog) August 27, 2013
It's Ramsey again!
This time Gibbs assists from the left, and Ramsey volleys home with his first touch.
It's 2-0 on the night and 5-0 on aggregate.
Aaron Ramsey receives a yellow card, the reason unclear.
Not sure if that was a shot or pass from Walcott, but it almost resulted in a goal.
68'—OFF THE BAR!
Walcott takes a free kick from the left, and it swings over the keeper before hitting the cross bar!
Two changes for Fenerbahce.
Dirk Kuyt and Cristian depart. Pierre Webo and Alper Potuk enter.
On the left side, Santi Cazorla lashes a shot on goal. The keeper pushes it out with his fingertips for a corner.
That one was bound for the net!
On the corner, the ball falls to Gibbs, whose free header flutters over the bar.
Arsenal give the ball away in their own half. Raul Meireiles collects the loose ball and feeds Sow, who curls a shot well over the goal.
Olivier Giroud makes way for Yaya Sanogo.
Arsenal's new striker steps forward, ready to come on... Yes, it's free transfer Yaya Sanogo.— John Cross (@johncrossmirror) August 27, 2013
57'—ARS 1-0 FEN
Bruno Alves has a bloody face after an aerial challenge with Giroud. Ouch.
Emenike runs onto a long pass on Fener's right side. Szczesny slides out near the edge of the box, and Emenike tumbles theatrically.
The Fener player is booked for simulation.
52'—ARS 1-0 FEN
Wilshere is caught in possession in the midfield, allowing Fener to counter. The visitors win a corner, which Arsenal deal with.
