Gareth Bale

1 of 10

Neil Ashton of The Daily Mail is exclusively reporting that Real Madrid and Tottenham have finally thrashed out the final terms of a deal which will see Gareth Bale move to the Spanish capital.

And it's a deal which, at £86 million, will break the world record fee paid for a football player, according to Monday morning's report.

Other newspapers, both in Spain and in England, seemingly expect the transfer to be tied up soon, but none are yet reporting that it is done.

For many it may be a case of the sooner the better, with the prolonged transfer having rumbled on all summer now.

UPDATE: It's Wednesday and Gareth Bale is still not a Real Madrid player. The latest news is that he skipped training on Tuesday as he grows frustrated over the length of time the transfer has dragged on for, via football-espana.net

As we say, any minute now...

UPDATE: It's actually still going on. We're dangerously close to the slamming shut of the transfer window and Gareth Bale remains a Tottenham player. Kind of.

The latest line from The Telegraph is that Daniel Levy continues to hold the deal up. Levy is supposedly unhappy with the way Madrid have conducted themselves, while his manager, Andre Villas-Boas, has already pretty much confirmed it's a matter of time until the deal goes through.

Please Daniel, put us out of our misery.

Kaka

2 of 10

It's perhaps long overdue, but Kaka has at last revealed he is prepared to leave Real Madrid.

Speaking after scoring twice in Madrid's friendly win in Coruna, the Brazilian opened the door to a move before the window shuts, via Marca

I want to leave. I think now is the right time for me and the club to part company amicably. I have spoken to Carlo Ancelotti and the club, everyone knows. My father is having talks with the club to find a solution.

Marca have suggested that a return to AC Milan could be the tonic for the 31-year-old, while The Daily Mail suggest Arsenal and Manchester United could be on red alert.

Denis Cheryshev

3 of 10

Reports in Russia suggest that Real Madrid youngster Denis Cheryshev is extremely close to agreeing a loan move to Zenit Saint Petersburg, via football-espana.net.

The left-sided player signed a new deal with Madrid this summer, but is likely to find first team opportunities hard to come by.

A season long loan move could prove perfect for all three parties.

Guilherme Siqueira

4 of 10

Real Madrid meet Granada on Monday night, and, according to Marca, the hierarchies of the two clubs have plenty to talk about.

Guilherme Siqueira could be top of the agenda.

With Fabio Coentrao set to flee, Madrid see the Brazilian left-back as the perfect candidate to come in an rival Marcelo for a starting spot.

After the match in Andalusia, where Madrid lost last season, an announcement is expected on Siqueira's future.

UPDATE: Two days on from the meeting between Real Madrid and Granada, Siqueira is still a player for the latter. However AS are suggesting that the deal could now go through, initially at least, as a season-long loan, via football-espana.net.

UPDATE: The deal between Madrid and Granada, say Marca, has been concluded. However, it now depends on Fabio Coentrao leaving the Bernabeu if it is to be completed in this window. Fingers crossed for Siqueira, who has been frozen out of the first team in Andalusia.

Mesut Oezil

5 of 10

Mesut Oezil is another one who could play a part in the chain reaction should Real Madrid eventually sign Gareth Bale.

The German cut a dejected figure when, for the second week running, he was take off in Madrid's win over Granada.

Now, Antony Kastrinakis of The Sun (subscription required) is reporting the 24-year-old is a possible target for Manchester United and Arsenal.

The two clubs would have to shell out nearly £200,000 a week to the midfielder if they want him though, as Oezil also seeks a pay rise to keep himself happy at the Bernabeu.

UPDATE: Mesut Oezil, as reported in The Guardian, has confirmed his desire to remain at Real Madrid. Nothing to see here:

I have a contract with Real Madrid and I am staying here. I want to be successful. A lot has been written in the media about other teams but I have the coach's confidence and I feel very good. Also, I have a contract until 2016. I have a very good understanding with all my team-mates and it is a pleasure and an honour to play for Real Madrid.

Angel Di Maria

6 of 10

Gareth Bale's pending arrival at the Bernabeu continues to see Angel Di Maria linked with a string of European clubs.

Jack Wilson of The Daily Star suggests that Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all interested in signing the Argentinian winger.

However they don't have long left if they want to lure Di Maria to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, reports in Turkey say that Galatasaray are ready to enter the race for his signature too, via football-espana.net.

UPDATE: Like Mesut Oezil, Angel di Maria has confirmed his desire to remain at Madrid. Speaking to AS he said he plans to see out his contract, but his future remains less clear than Oezil's, via football-espana.net:

I understand that the club is strengthening and they are precise in what they do. But I signed up to 2018 just a year ago and my desire is to stay at the Bernabeu.

Fabio Coentrao

7 of 10

There seem to be just a few questions left unanswered when it comes to the future of Fabio Coentrao.

    When will he leave Madrid?

    Who will he join?

And if it's Tottenham, will it form part of the Gareth Bale deal?

Speaking after his side's 1-0 win over Swansea, Andre Villas-Boas would neither confirm nor deny how far along the club may be in respect to signing the Portuguese left-back, via The Daily Mail:

"Coentrao and [Erik] Lamela, both great players, but that's all I can say."

Expect a conclusion before the week is out.

Update: Marca are suggesting that Fabio Coentrao could be left in limbo. The player and the club are both in agreement that he will leave during this window, however the problem is that the club have not received any official bids these past two weeks. The Portuguese international will hope something changes soon.

Iker Casillas

8 of 10

For the second straight match, there have only been two so far this season, Carlo Ancelotti preferred Diego Lopez to start in goal ahead of Iker Casillas on Monday night.

Now, Neil McLeman of The Mirror, is reporting that the Spain stopper is seeking assurances over his future.

And if he doesn't get the information he desires, McLeman says that Arsenal are monitoring the situation, ready to pounce should Casillas become available.

Karim Benzema

9 of 10

After the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, the stage was set, it was thought, for Karim Benzema to make his name as Real Madrid's No. 9.

It was a little bit surprising then when, last week, Arsenal were linked with the French forward, via The Telegraph.

Benzema's agent has rubbished those reports though, insisting his client could end his career at the Bernabeu, via AS:

"A new three-year contract is being worked on. The discussions are taking place calmly, without deadlines. Karim could well end his career at Real Madrid, the club of his dreams."

Cristiano Ronaldo

10 of 10

Daniel Taylor of The Guardian has reopened the "Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United" story which rears its head every now and again.

The Portuguese forward has supposedly informed the English side he wants to return to Old Trafford, possibly to end his career there.

However, the deal is unlikely to take place this summer, with 2014 the year when Ronaldo could return to the Premier League.
