The New York Giants already secured Victor Cruz this summer by signing him to a five-year, $43 million extension. Cruz wasn't exactly thrilled, calling it a "hometown discount."

Is Hakeem Nicks next? The 25-year-old wide receiver is in the final season of the five-year, $12.5 million rookie contract he signed in 2009.

This year, Nicks is slated to make $2.75 million. However, he's got to be looking at what players like Mike Wallace did by signing for $60 million over five years with the Dolphins

If healthy, Nicks could get franchised in 2014 by the Giants for a cool $11 million.

No matter how you look at it, if Nicks stays healthy, he's due for a big payday in 2014.

But that's a big "if." Nicks does not exactly have a history of staying healthy.

Check out the video above, as Bleacher Report's lead NFL writer Mike Freeman has some very personal advice for the Giants' wide receiver.

Let us know in the comments below if you think Nicks should sign now or wait for his big payday.
