The Philadelphia 76ers are going to be bad this year. But will they be bad enough?

It's no secret what the Sixers are up to. New general manager Sam Hinkie is tearing an edifice of mediocrity to the ground, attempting to rebuild from scratch.

Part of the plan is to develop youngsters like Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young along the way. Yet, they're also planning to lose enough games, ensuring a real shot at the No. 1 pick and a future franchise cornerstone.

New coach Brett Brown appears to be the right guy to develop young players, but can he keep their heads above water and their confidence up as they're led to slaughter? How much will Philly regret trading franchise point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for currently-injured and raw rookie, Nerlens Noel?

What happens if the lottery balls don't fall the way Philadelphia management hopes? What if the young players lose hope and become shell-shocked, damaged goods?
