Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan Jokes with Robert Griffin III on the Sidelines

Tristan ThornburghSocial Media StaffAugust 20, 2013

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III really wants to play during the preseason.

RGIII went down with an ACL tear at the end of last season and has been imploring his coach to let him see some preseason game time, but Mike Shanahan has indicated that he'll play in the regular-season opener at the very earliest.

On the sidelines during the first quarter of Washington's preseason game against the Steelers, Shanahan jokingly asked his QB if he'd like to play, which got RGIII very excited.

The two shared a good laugh after Shanahan let him know he was just joking, and it looks like Griffin even let some of his teammates in on the joke. Good to see they have a sense of humor about the issue.

Hat tip to FTW for bringing this to our attention.
