Breaking Down Latest News and Rumors Surrounding WWE 2K14 for Aug. 19
SummerSlam 2013 produced an overstock of excitement in the ring, but the weekend was also big for WWE 2K14 news.
The roster for the game is suddenly far more robust and an intriguing mode has been announced. Still, not everyone is satisfied, including a former intercontinental champion.
Just who is in the game and who got left out? What could Antonio Cesaro possibly have to tell us about WWE 2K14?
The following is a look at those questions as we break down the latest info available for WWE's upcoming video game.
The WWE 2K14 roster went from a handful of names before the weekend to a delectable selection of legends, current stars and retro versions of today's favorites.
Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Damien Sandow and Justin Roberts revealed a ton of new names for the roster at a SummerSlam Axxess event. Among the names from the past to show up were Goldberg, King Kong Bundy, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter and Razor Ramon.
The game draws from the '80s with names like Big John Studd and the '90s with Kevin Nash and Yokozuna being a part of the action. More recent alums like Batista are in the mix as well.
Ted DiBiase Jr. is not confirmed, but his father sure is.
This expansive roster offers gamers numerous combinations. Big Show can battle Andre, a retro version of Undertaker can take on the modern version or players can re-enact the great battles between Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair.
Only a select number of fans will celebrate her inclusion, but Stephanie McMahon is among the many available characters in the game. She confirmed that in the above video.
As of now, she's the only female known to be in WWE 2K14 and the only McMahon. Chances are both Vince and Shane will join her. The question is which divas, past and present, will be in the game to go up against the "Billion Dollar Princess?"
The rest of the roster is sure to leak out slowly with most of the big names already out of the bag.
30 Years of WrestleMania Mode
Among the most exciting announcements about the game thus far has been the addition of the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode.
Aubrey Sitterson on 2K.com described it as "a nostalgic gameplay mode that covers nearly three decades of WWE history with more than 45 historic, groundbreaking and legendary matches."
Players will relive matches like Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania III, The Rock vs. Hogan at WrestleMania X8 and The Rock's battle with John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII. The older matches will feature a retro film quality to try and match the TV technology of the time. Cut scenes will not only help gamers get hyped for these matches, but offer many fans a chance to learn some WWE history.
Judging by who is on the roster, one can guess that Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat from WrestleMania III is on there as well as Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania X.
Plus the Fink is part of the action to help complete the feeling that we've traveled back in time.

No Roddy Piper?
Roddy Piper in action at the first WrestleMania
2K Sports can't possibly fit every superstar who ever wrestled at WrestleMania into the game. Legal issues make it difficult to put guys like Owen Hart into the game, that's understandable. Leaving Roddy Piper out of the mix is harder to fathom.
Piper was in the main event at the first-ever WrestleMania, lost to Bret Hart at WrestleMania VIII and had a memorable parking lot brawl with Goldust during WrestleMania XII.
One of those moments would seemingly earn him a spot in the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode, while WWE would understandably shy away from the WrestleMania VI bout where he painted half his body black to mock Bad News Brown.
Piper sounded insulted in a tweet responding to the snub.

The Rock is on the front cover, but fans were asked to create their own covers and responded by including Daniel Bryan.
Both the North American and international winners chose Bryan as their subject. 2K Sports revealed the winners on August 15. The international winner's design features Bryan when his hair was less wild, while the North American version has him in full goat-face mode.
Anyone who wants to have Bryan be WWE champ for more than a few minutes can rewrite WWE history via the game.
Antonio Cesaro is apparently gearing up to deliver a special announcement about the game.
The announcement can't be that he'll in the game as that wouldn't be a surprise or special. It's not likely that the reveal will be about some old-school grappler like Karl Gotch being in the game, so the announcement is a difficult one to guess.
