For the San Jose Sharks' Brent Burns, life is currently all about tee times and summer relaxation. Oh, and random bones found while golfing, because we can't forget about those.
Deadspin spotted the following tweet posted by Burns, who was playing golf when he happened upon the biggest find in archaeological history.
Found this on the course... Any ideas what it could be? pic.twitter.com/SQc7QZUdxU— Brent Burns (@Burnzie88) August 19, 2013
OK, perhaps there are bigger finds throughout history. Pauly Shore and Sean Astin digging up a frozen Brendan Fraser comes to mind.
However, as far as we know, this is the biggest find by an NHL player on the golf course this week.
Now the teeth on this thing threw us for a loop. The comments section at Deadspin has some educated guesses, with people offering up things like "javelina" and "nutria." The Twitter responses were a little less helpful at first, with items like "mastodon" bandied about.
Although, there is one Twitter user who seems to have the answer as far as Burns is concerned.
@Sandwichosity nice!! Ya it's the lower jaw... Thanks for all the replies and help very cool— Brent Burns (@Burnzie88) August 19, 2013
We also rather enjoy Burns looking at the bright side of being a bad golfer.
@GrahamDeLaet people don't find crazy things when they are always in the fairway! Way off in the deep stuff it gets interesting!— Brent Burns (@Burnzie88) August 19, 2013
The only real downside here is that Burns has yet to update his Twitter to include the name of the golf course where he found this epic fossil.
Judging by those gnarly teeth, this course needs to be at the top of places to never visit. Seeing as how there is nothing in the image for size reference, we are left to assume this bone is the length of a pitching wedge or roughly the size of the dip Jason Dufner has in his lower lip at the moment.
We just hope Burns was able to safely take this thing off the course. As Indiana Jones taught us, this find belongs in a museum.
Of course, we are eager to hear what you think this object resembles. Go ahead and toss your guesses down there with the obvious haughty tone.
