Liverpool have been linked to midfielder Willian, and the team is sending a message to the rest of the English Premier League by trying to improve its squad.

According to, the Reds have agreed to a deal with Valencia's Aly Cissokho and are now turning their attention toward securing Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala.

The Russian club could decide to move the midfielder for the right price, and the Brazilian appears to be waiting for a club to make a deal for him. Here is what he told ESPN in the report:

I'm waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool. If it's really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I'm hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best.

England is my goal. The English championship is the dream of many players, and I'm no different. I like the Premier League very much. I enjoy the English football and certainly, if that happens, it will be very good for me and for my image.

Because he expressed his desire to go to the EPL, Liverpool should continue to pursue him.

Acquiring Willian would be an improvement, and by doing so the club would be making a statement by not settling for just one move.

Getting Cissokho on a loan addressed one area of need. The Reds needed help at left-back, and acquiring Cissokho solved the problem.

Liverpool must now address another position. They have a chance to add an attacking midfielder and could get their man. According to Dominic King of the Daily Mail, Liverpool could make a £30 million offer in order to satisfy Anzhi's request. Tottenham and Manchester United are also interested in the player, so the Reds must be aggressive.

Taking a player like Willian off the market from Tottenham and United would be a big boost for Liverpool. They need to show the rest of the EPL that they are serious about making a run at the title.

The 25-year-old would be one of the most expensive acquisitions in club history and would represent a marquee signing. Manager Brendan Rodgers has yet to find the right player to fit the latter, but Willian would be a great addition.

Willian is a player known for creating chances for his teammates. He can use either foot and can certainly score when teams leave him open.

Anzhi are asking for a lot of money; the Reds must decide if Willian is worth it (he is).

Adding both Cissokho and Willian would allow the club to challenge for a spot near the top of the league standings. The roster already includes Luis Suarez, David Sturridge and Steven Gerrard. The offseason has focused around Suarez, but the team's aggressiveness sends a positive message to the EPL and the fans.

Now that they are willing to make a strong bid for the Brazilian, Liverpool have showed that they are doing everything possible to fill holes.

Willian would improve the squad, and Liverpool are sending a message to the top of the EPL by pursuing the attacking midfielder.
