Although Manchester United has yet to make a big signing this summer, new manager David Moyes will make a splash before the transfer window closes on September 2.
Although it's been a rather boring transfer window for the Red Devils, it certainly feels like they are finally getting close to adding an impact player. According to Sky Sports, Moyes is confident he will add to the United squad. Here is just some of what he had to say:
We are involved in several players we are looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we are working very hard to do so.
This was always going to be a difficult window for me personally because I joined Manchester United on 1 July so it is giving you a short period to get to know the players and to get to know the market.
Yes of course I was working on it during the summer but it is never the same until you have actually worked with the players and been around them.
There's certainly a good chance that United can make a run at another Premier League title this season, but while other teams have been adding new players, the Red Devils have remained relatively stagnant. With Wayne Rooney's future up in the air, it would make sense to try to add to the team and increase those chances.
There are several players reports have alluded to the team acquiring. A recent report by Miguel Delaney of ESPN FC stated that United had recently contacted Real Madrid about acquiring either Luka Modric or Mesut Ozil. The report also said that the Red Devils' top priority was bringing in an "all-round creative midfielder."
Either of these players would certainly be welcome additions to the team. Both of these men are big playmakers in the midfield, and with that being the biggest need for this team, they could make United a favorite in the league once again.
Perhaps the more likely goal in bringing in a player would be with Marouane Fellaini, the Belgian midfielder for Everton. According to Chris Wheeler from the Daily Mail, both United and Fellaini are confident that a deal will be made.
Sure, Fellaini may not be as good as Cesc Fabregas, but he's a very good midfielder that would be a valuable addition and a big upgrade to the Red Devils midfield. He's one of the more valuable players on Everton, however, and Moyes will need to be ready to be aggressive with the signing.
At this moment, there are a number of options for Moyes, and there's little doubt that he signs someone to the team. This is his first year after Sir Alex Ferguson retired, and he wants to begin to make his own mark on this team by upgrading it during the transfer window.
There are still a couple of weeks left before the window closes, and fans should be confident that United will sign someone before that September 2 deadline.
