Streaker Rushes Field During Preseason Game, Gets Kicked into Submission
Ah, the spectacle of football.
After a rough summer of murder investigations, Johnny Manziel drama and licensing withdrawals, it’s good to see actual pigskin being played on television again. It’s a reminder that the focus will soon return to action on the field, that all will be right with the world and—whoa—is that a guy streaking on the field?
Yes, it is.
Thursday night’s matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions was a typical preseason affair until the third quarter, when a streaker tore up the turf for an 80-yard touchdown. Video of the field rushing surfaced on Twitter (courtesy @CanswpP), and as you can see, the fan is hoisted down to the field and goes on a long run.
Notice the Lions player pursuing the streaker. According to CBS Detroit, the player in pursuit was Lions running back Joique Bell, who knocked the field rusher down twice before he could be brought down by security in the end zone.

Streaker on the field in Cleveland. Made it 80 yards to the endzone with no pants. Tackled by a Lion player twice. pic.twitter.com/M84bqJlk2A— Tyler M. Colton (@TC_from_WV) August 16, 2013
Another video of the incident was picked up by Joe Kinsey of Busted Coverage. From this vantage point, viewers see the streaker running into the end zone, where he drops trow before being shin-kicked/tackled into the turf by security.
What’s worth noting in the takedown is the security guards’ differing attack techniques. Both men have their own style and use it to devastating effect.
A guard in white hits the streaker with a traditional shoulder tackle to the hip—not typically where you want to be making contact with a fully naked stranger. At the same moment, a guard in blue attempts to shin-kick the streaker to the ground, like he's Cobra Kai Johnny.
“It was not an enjoying sight,” Lions linebacker Ashlee Palmer told CBS Detroit. “But the guy that tackled him at the end of it, that was a nice form tackle, man. Probably could use him.”
You heard it, football fans. One of these two teams might have found a new outside linebacker in the guard who took down the streaker.
Meanwhile, someone get Cobra Kai Johnny an ice pack and another stripe for his yellow belt. He earned it.
