Atlanta Braves SS Paul Janish Removes a Bat (the Winged Kind) from the Field

Tristan ThornburghSocial Media StaffAugust 15, 2013

Atlanta Braves shortstop Paul Janish is only hitting .083 so far this season, but he showed great bat control against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. This, however, was not the normal kind of bat you typically see during a baseball game.

A winged bat landed on the field in Atlanta during the second inning. Janish scooped it up with his glove and passed it to the Braves bat boy, who removed it from the field in a towel.

Braves second baseman Dan Uggla decided to sneak a peek inside the towel in the dugout and appeared to immediately regret his decision.

Thankfully, no one was bitten throughout this whole bat fiasco.

Hat tip to Yahoo! Sports for the find.
