World Football Hero of the Week

Last week, new Paris Saint-Germain signing Edinson Cavani took out a full-page ad in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport to thank the fans of his former club Napoli.

Simply put, it was a classy move.

You’ll remember that Cavani joined PSG from Napoli last month in a deal reportedly worth €64 million. As a professional footballer, he could have moved on with his career without saying a thing to his former supporters, and that would have been his right.

Instead, though, he thanked Napoli’s fans for the 1,000 or so days he spent with the club. He called the 104 goals he scored there “special moments lived” with them, and he said the club would remain in his heart forever.

For his classy thank-you note, we’re naming El Matador our Bleacher Report World Football Hero of the Week.
