It was reported last week that Nick Evans was slumping in Buffalo (AAA) and might be sent down to Binghamton (AA). The Mets have decided that his slump is so prevalent, that he's going all the way down to Port St. Lucie. Evans is hitting .093 and the Mets have decided to send him down to work with the instructional staff in Florida. I don't think I recall a prospect ever falling so far or so fast; not only was he a top prospect, but he almost made the Major League team out of spring training.

So what could be wrong?

  1. Injury
  2. Confidence
  3. Mechanics
  4. Lost without Murphy

The Mets have sent the badly slumping Nick Evans to extended spring training in Florida from Triple-A Buffalo, where he was hitting .093 with 27 strikeouts. Evans will spend a week or so in Port St. Lucie, then head to Double-A Binghamton. Source: NY Post.
