Chelsea Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of August 12
We have reached the last week of suspense leading up to Chelsea's 2013-14 English Premier League season.
While the EPL season wait is almost over, the wait to see what the Blues will do in the summer transfer window will continue for a few more weeks.
With the likes of Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and Mark Schwarzer already joining up with Jose Mourinho's club this summer, the Blues have done plenty of business, but they are not done just yet.
Here is a complete wrap-up of all the transfer news surrounding Chelsea for the week of August 12.

Saturday, August 17: Rooney Deadline Set; Falcao in the Mix?
Saturday's transfer rumors left Chelsea fans with raised eyebrows.
That date is significant because August 26 is the date when the Blues head to Old Trafford for an early-season showdown with Manchester United.
While the Rooney news has lingered around the club for a few weeks, a new forward has been linked with Chelsea on Saturday.
Charles Perrin of The Express is reporting that Chelsea could swoop back in for Radamel Falcao, who may have to be sold by his current club, Monaco.
Perrin reports that Monaco could face a £75 million fine for the massive tax-free contract of the Colombian if he is not sold.
This report seems a bit far-fetched at the moment, but if Falcao does become available, do not blame Chelsea if they reignite their interest in the forward.
Friday, August 16: Anzhi Firesale Begins, Is Eto'o Next?
The expected exodus from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala has begun, but Samuel Eto'o remains a member of the Russian club for now.
Three of Eto'o's former teammates, Igor Denisov, Yuri Zhirkov, and Aleksandr Kokorin, were sold to Dynamo Moscow earlier this week, and if you believe the transfer speculation, Eto'o could be next on the list of departures from the sudden budget cutters.
As Simon Jones of The Daily Mail states, Eto'o is hopeful that he will be able to leave Anzhi before the transfer window closes.
Thursday, August 15: A New Twist in the Eto'o Saga
After a day where the transfer world around Chelsea exploded, the news on the transfer front on Thursday focused on one player.
That one player would be Samuel Eto'o.
Eto'o has been linked with Chelsea all week, but according to Martin Lipton of The Mirror, a new club have entered the fray.
That club would be Manchester United, who have unexpectedly entered the race to sign the Cameroon international.
Lipton's report claims that sources close to the situation say that United's entrance into the Eto'o race is to force the Blues to the negotiating table.
Whether or not Eto'o's antics do force Chelsea's hand is still to be seen.
Wednesday, August 14: News on All Fronts
Wednesday has been the busiest day of the week yet for transfer rumours about players coming in and out of Chelsea Football Club.
According to the report, the decision by the United ownership is irreversible, and it looks like Chelsea's quest for a striker will not end with Rooney donning a blue kit this season.
Speaking of forwards, West Ham will be making a surprise run at Demba Ba in an attempt to bring him back to Upton Park, according to Darren Lewis of The Mirror.
This is a move that seems a bit peculiar, especially after the Hammers signed Andy Carroll on a permanent basis from Liverpool earlier in the summer.
If Ba were to be offloaded across London to West Ham, it would leave Chelsea with very few pure forwards in their squad.
Luckily for the Blues, Samuel Eto'o could very well still be in their sights, as reported by Jamie Johnson of The Guardian.
Johnson claims that the Blues are ready to submit a £5 million bid for the Anzhi forward, who is on the verge of an exit from the Russian club.
Tuesday, August 13: Samuel Eto'o Rumours Heat Up
It seems as though the pursuit of Samuel Eto'o by Chelsea is beginning to heat up.
The chase of Eto'o has also been confirmed by Darren Lewis over at The Mirror.
In his article, Lewis claims that Eto'o is willing to reunite with manager Jose Mourinho, whom he was together with at Inter Milan during the 2009-10 season.
Eto'o is quoted in Lewis' report by saying:
“I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose.
“He is one of the best coaches in the world - and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again - because it is never boring when Jose is around.”

With the potential transfer of Eto'o becoming more feasible by the day, the Cameroon international could jump over Rooney on the transfer wish list by the end of the week, if these reports continue.
Monday, August 12: Barca Bid for Luiz, Pair of Forwards Linked to Blues
The biggest transfer news surrounding Chelsea on Monday comes from John Cross at The Mirror.
Cross is reporting that Barcelona will make their final bid for the Brazilian defender sometime this week.
Luiz has been targeted by the Catalan club all summer long, and it seems like they want to finish up their transfer business before the La Liga season gets underway.
Over the weekend, some intriguing news came from John Ashdown of The Guardian, who reported that the Blues may have interest in Anzhi forward Samuel Eto'o.
With Anzhi cutting their budget and looking to offload players, Chelsea could take advantage of the Russian club's situation, and bring in the Cameroon international as an extra attacking option.
The report also mentions that Chelsea could be in on Anzhi's playmaking Brazilian midfielder Willian.
With three big name moves being linked to the Blues to start off the week, one thing is for sure and that is that Chelsea fans will have plenty to talk about besides the start of the season this week.
